NEXA test report
New Experiences for Learning

About this report

Within organizational psychology, Learning Agility is a relatively new concept that emerged in the 2000s and started to spread in the 2010s. With the increased ambiguity in decision-making in companies and the need for faster decisions in more volatile environments, it is perceived that the ability to adapt behaviors quickly, especially for decision-makers, was increasingly crucial to the performance of the organizations.

The definition of Learning Agility is:

Learning agility is about dealing with new experiences quickly and flexibly, by trying new behaviors, collecting feedback and adjustments, offering new lessons when there is no right way to act. (1)

To facilitate understanding, Learning Agility is fragmented into 5 different factors, which will be explored in this report.

Results

Agility with Results
To solve problems, you prefer to have more time to understand them better and, thus, find the best solution. You feel more comfortable when you can gather knowledge to then generate more consistent results.
Description left button
Description
You
You prefer to try to solve problems quickly and immediately, and, if necessary, adapt along the way. You like to generate results early, in order to leave your mark.

Your result

You tend to act in different ways depending on each problem, and they fall into two categories. There is a group of problems that you prefer to tackle more calmly, deeply understanding the problem to think of the best solution right away. There is another group of problems that you prefer to tackle more quickly, identifying a good solution (not the best one) and executing it as soon as possible. If a problem arises, you adapt your solution as necessary. In some cases, you can make hasty decisions that needed more calm, as well as make decisions that needed more agility slowly.

Suggestions for self development

In case you believe that your profile is good and you want to stay where you are , follow these topics and suggestions to maximize your results :
  1. Keep calm when making more relevant decisions. Stop and collect information to support your choices. A well-informed decision is very likely to work.
  2. Do not change your mind as soon as something starts to go wrong. Analyze the situation and note what changes are needed. Is it necessary to fix just one detail or does the idea really not work? Ponder calmly and then make the decision.
  3. Do not try to solve all the problems at the same speed. Some solutions require detail and precision to achieve their real impact. Analyze in which cases it is worth spending more time, then decide when to stop performing the task.
In case you want to move further to the other side of the spectrum , these are sometopics and suggestions for development :
  1. Take more risks on less impactful choices and make decisions even if you believe that you do not have enough information. Feel uncomfortable and even use this discomfort to your advantage, getting used to it.
  2. Do not worry if you need to change your mind. It is not a sign of inconsistency, it is simply that now you have more information. Once things are over, it is easy to look back and see how further planning could have helped. But you can only look back after the decision has been made. The faster this is done, the faster the change in the course of action occurs. Adapting and changing points of view is part of being more agile.
  3. Leave perfectionism aside. Most of the decisions that can be made faster are often delayed by details that, in the end, do not make much of a difference (although, at the moment, it is believed that they make all the difference!). Remember: to be more agile, you need to take more risks, and the details of a decision generally follow the law of diminishing returns: more time for things with less impact.
Agility with People
You prefer to make decisions by listening to a few people or even by yourself. You feel comfortable when you have more control over things and only share with many people when the decision has already been made or when the matter has already been decided. Possibly, you prefer not to expose your opinion so much in groups.
Description left button
Description
You
You prefer to involve many people in the decision-making process, taking into account several perspectives. You like a more democratic approach and you take everyone into account. You probably do not care so much if they will judge you for your opinions.

Your result

When making a decision, you have a mixed profile, acting differently depending on the type of decision. In some cases, you act more privately, centralizing decisions on yourself or on a more select group of people. In other cases, you tend to be more receptive, opening up the decision to as many people as possible. With that, you can observe other points of view and adapt yours to the best possible. Because of this ambiguous attitude, it is possible that you centralize decisions that should be more general and open discussions that should be individual or for a few people.

Suggestions for self development

In case you want to move further to the other side of the spectrum , these are sometopics and suggestions for development :
  1. Have a select group of people you trust, something similar to a “council”. Use them to validate your ideas and get better directions. However, ensure that your group has people with different types of thinking, and not just similar to yours.
  2. Know when to discuss. Understand that there are discussions that add and discussions that do not, and know how to conduct them in a way to get the best out of it.
  3. In moments of deadlock, consider both sides and make the decision that you think is most correct. Understand that sometimes you will be right and you must decide regardless of the views of others, and that at other times you will be wrong and you must listen to what people tell you.
In case you believe that your profile is good and you want to stay where you are , follow these topics and suggestions to maximize your results :
  1. Involve people in the decision-making process. Ask them to share their opinions on a particular issue. Value opinions and reasons, no matter how much you disagree. Be careful: if people perceive that only opinions like yours are valued, they will stop offering their perspectives and will just try to guess which is yours.
  2. Observe the premises above, but do not be afraid to argue. Share your opinions, accept criticism and encourage debates. People only sharing their opinion is not enough: it is necessary that they really discuss so that they can learn and incorporate other points of view to their ideas.
  3. Implement actions even if you disagree. That is the best thing about the democratic leader: accepting that you may be wrong and that other people may be seeing things that you do not see.
Agility with Changes
You prefer methods already tested and proven to make things happen. You prefer to focus on what is good to guarantee success and results.
Description left button
Description
You
You like to do things differently and test new possibilities whenever possible. You are not afraid to take risks with different responsibilities and you try new ways, even when things are already working.

Your result

You tend to be a flexible and resilient person. As you are more open to changes, you can easily adapt to adverse situations and, consequently, exceed expectations, depending on the situation. You also tend to be flexible with your day-to-day activities, which allows you to respond to emergencies and solve priority problems without disturbing your reasoning logic. In some cases, you can be radical and reckless, trying to implement risky changes in situations that require a specific outcome in a short period.

Suggestions for self development

In case you want to move further to the other side of the spectrum , these are sometopics and suggestions for development :
  1. Choose some of your day-to-day activities (not necessarily at work) and commit to doing it following a routine. Look for patterns that make sense in your activity and repeat them.
  2. Before making a decision, review similar choices that have already been made and try to identify a pattern. Try to repeat the steps previously taken to aim at a similar result.
  3. Try to plan your day in advance and try to follow what was planned. If unforeseen events arise, try to minimize changes in the schedule, in order to follow the original plan.
In case you believe that your profile is good and you want to stay where you are , follow these topics and suggestions to maximize your results :
  1. Seek at least one new responsibility for something that you consider not to have mastery. The further away from your area of expertise, the better. That way, you will be forced to do things you have never done and try different tasks.
  2. Choose something that is part of your own routine (not necessarily at work) and commit to doing it differently(however subtle it may be) at least 5 times.
  3. Before making a decision, force yourself to think of at least 5 different courses of action and choose one where you believe the result would be good, but the likelihood of it not working is high. Design an experiment on how to make sure this direction really works or not, and run it.
Mental Agility
You prefer to learn things more calmly and following your logic. You are usually more pragmatic and value practice more than theory. You prefer to deal with examples rather than concepts.
Description left button
Description
You
You capture new concepts quickly and like to analyze scenarios. You feel comfortable understanding what is behind the ideas and making analogies. It is easy for you to abstract the essence of what is behind the examples.

Your result

You tend to learn faster, ensuring good learning in a short period. Because of this, you can constantly add new concepts to your life. You also tend to be a person with great ability to apply theories on a daily basis, since you have a wide range of different concepts. This allows you to identify situations with the highest return without having to test them in the practice. In some cases, you can make mistakes by being too attached to the theory and not giving much consideration to the practical applicability of certain things.

Suggestions for self development

In case you want to move further to the other side of the spectrum , these are sometopics and suggestions for development :
  1. Try to perform more operational activities, which do not require you to think so much.
  2. Try to use more applicable concepts when making decisions. Instead of basing your ideas on theories, look for real examples and implement processes similar to those used in the examples (adapt according to your environment).
  3. Practice mental activities more calmly. Not everyone has your reasoning speed and, because of that, it can be difficult for others to understand you. Find people willing to listen to you explain a topic and ask for their feedback, especially about the speed of the explanation progression.
In case you believe that your profile is good and you want to stay where you are , follow these topics and suggestions to maximize your results :
  1. If you do not have it yet, engage in the habit of reading. Force yourself to read books. Use audiobooks on the way to work, if you prefer. During the process, reflect on how to apply any of the concepts on a daily basis.
  2. Abstract the examples. Whenever you are explaining something to someone, first try to do it without using examples, just by explaining the concept. This will get your mind used to this type of thinking.
  3. When making decisions, design several possible scenarios in your mind. Preferably, also estimate the likelihood that they will happen. If possible, write them down. Over time, you will be able to design these scenarios more and more easily and with even more precision.
Self-knowledge
You are not the type of person that stops to think about the things that happened. You prefer to go ahead and focus on the future. Sometimes, you can be impulsive and not reflect so much on your actions.
Description left button
Description
You
You like to stop to reflect on what you lived and how to learn from experiences. You spend a lot of time thinking about experiences and situations, trying to understand why things happened in a certain way. Sometimes, you can get obsessed with experiences from the past.

Your result

You tend to be a person who believes that the past is a means of learning. You often analyze your experiences (both positive and negative) and reflect on why things happened in a certain way, so that even bad things tend to be good. In some cases, you may be too attached to certain experiences, trying to find reasons for things beyond your control. These experiences can turn into traumas, preventing you from making certain decisions in similar situations.

Suggestions for self development

In case you want to move further to the other side of the spectrum , these are sometopics and suggestions for development :
  1. Focus on here and now. Do not be sorry for something that has already happened and that you cannot change. Think a little about why things happened as they did, and then move on.
  2. Value yourself more. It is not because others say something about you that this is necessarily true. If you are feeling bad about yourself, take 5 minutes of your day to appreciate yourself in front of the mirror, talking about the things you like about you.
  3. Understand that there are times for reflection and times for action. Some situations require urgency and speed.
In case you believe that your profile is good and you want to stay where you are , follow these topics and suggestions to maximize your results :
  1. Set aside some time every day (around 15 minutes) to think about the situations that happened and how you could have acted differently. Focus on your actions, not just on how things could have happened otherwise due to other people or circumstances.
  2. Before making a decision, list at least 2 points in favor and 2 points against. Even if the points against are not enough to make you change your mind, at least you are more aware of the risks and it is easier to analyze the consequences later.
  3. In these reflections, talk to yourself. Sometimes it is difficult to analyze things just in our mind, and simulating a conversation helps to make the right points and questions concrete.
